Care Technician to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital
on the 3 West Ortho/Joint Unit.Hours/Shift:Part-time, dayshift, 7am
to 7pmDepartment/Position Overview:3 West Ortho is a 12-bed unit
that accommodates a variety of post operative surgical procedures
including total hip, knees, shoulders, ankles & spine. Being that
most of our patients are admitted via elective procedure it makes
the patient population a joy as they are often very thankful for
our staff & have an anticipated plan of care managing pain,
physical therapy & monitoring post operative complications. We
enforce more independence by promoting mobility which decreases the
amount of total care patients we have which is also a bonus for our
small unit.As a Patient Care Technicianwith Sentara, you will have
the opportunity to learn many new skills. From taking vitals to
blood draws and daily care. The primary duties of this position
include supporting the admission/discharge process, changing,
bathing ambulating patients, drawing blood, foley catheter care,
meeting patient needs while working under the direct supervision of
a nurse. You will find that teamwork is exceptional, with everyone

Technician with Sentara.Minimum Requirements:
For those acting as Safety Partners, de-escalation and physical
intervention training within 30 days of hire, except for those in
Behavioral Health within 15 days of hire.
One of the following programs is acceptable for education: Sentara
Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical
Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT),
completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to
include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student
enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one
semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within
last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
One year of health care experience preferred. AHA BLS certification
within 90 days of hire.Qualifications:HS - High School Grad or
Equivalent (Required)Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification -
American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Certified Patient Care
Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) - Certification - National
